PROJECTMANAGEMENT & TECHNICAL COACHING- ACTUAL CASE

A metal producer was unhappy with the down time in his company in relation to the costs involved in the planning time and the personnel. Therefore, the company was interested in using a project management software program to better plan the down times and as well, to lower the number of employees.

To achieve this goal we went on site and conducted an evaluation of the plant's procedures for the down times and made recommendations for improvement.
After each change we followed up with an on site review and continued this process for 9 months working closely with the employees involved in this process. After this time period the plant noted a substantial decrease in the down times and a corresponding increase in efficiency.

To help prepare the personnel for this project and reduce their fears and anxieties of an "outsider" telling them what to do, we trained them thoroughly on how to use the project management software package.
Thus, they were trained and ready for the project prior to even when it getting started.
An unexpected bonus for the company from our evaluation was the discovery of excess manpower and resources in the process. By shifting some resources and personnel around the company could simultaneously fulfill the German requirements for the ISO 9000, a high-level certification done in companies covering among other things safety standards, use of resources and personnel management.

The total duration of this project was 18 months and the time since, the staff have been able to independently track the manufacturing down times smoothly.
